EU Policy Manager or Director  – financial services experience, based in Brussels 


We are looking for a Manager (5+ years) or Director (8+ years) professional experience in EU public affairs to join our financial services expertise team in Brussels. 


We are seeking an experienced, collaborative senior team member to reinforce our growing financial services practice in Brussels. We offer a dynamic, fast-moving environment in a young, flat organization with minimal bureaucracy, annual bonusses and quick advancement for high-performing staff. You may currently be already working in an EU institution, for a regulatory authority, for a public affairs or management consultancy, a multinational or a think-tank. You understand the EU’s legislative process and politics and the value of personal networks.    The role entails advising clients on the implications of EU political and policy developments for their business, with a particular focus on the financial services sector.  


You will also have the opportunity to work with some world’s largest companies in a range of sectors, including sustainability, transport, energy & climate, trade, healthcare, and digital policy. Proven experience on financial services policies is essential.   We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have significant experience working on EU financial services policy, especially banking, cryptocurrency and sustainable finance.  Political acumen, an understanding and interest in EU politics and the future developments linked to the European Commission's mandate are also essential.

Primary Responsibilities: 


Working alongside a high-performing team, you would be expected to: 

  • Have financial services experience (essential), being a subject matter expert across a range of FS issues and areas such as banking, financial markets, payments, crypto.  Experience with digital/data issues (desirable).  
  • Deliver outstanding work for our clients: support in advising clients at a senior level on the impacts of political and regulatory change, and how they can manage these to secure the best outcomes for their business. 
  • Take responsibilities and ownership: conduct client and/or topic-specific analysis and draft bespoke briefings; participate in and contribute to client meetings and internal account management meetings.  Strong drafting skills and analytical thinking a must. 
  • Build client relationships: serve as day-to-day contact of the clients related to the execution of policy analysis, advocacy and communication campaigns.  Building relationships and deliver across Brussels and London offices, so written and spoken English is essential. 
  • Contribute to teamwork: work closely with client team leads to continue to build a competitive, best-in-class EU affairs team and offering, attracting talent and coaching and mentoring junior colleagues. 

Skills and Experience: 


 Track record demonstrating interest in the area of financial services and political issues. 

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, research and problem-solving skills – ability to draw out the implications of complex evidence and analysis to give clear strategy and policy advice. 
  • Outstanding English written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences with varying degrees of expert knowledge. 
  • Outstanding English oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues to non-specialists. 
  • Good project management and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise, plan and schedule complex tasks proactively – comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with internal colleagues and external clients.  Ability to integrate easily into a new team and lead with ease across both Brussels and London. 
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required, knowledge of other European languages is an advantage.
