You will support the delivery of client work in our Markets & Investors Advisory (MIA) practice. This will involve working closely with senior team members across Flint to advise clients on public policy, politics, regulation, and commercial strategy. Flint’s clients want to understand, in detail, how they can build a long-term strategy to thrive in an evolving policy environment.  Our clients include major infrastructure investors, asset managers, portfolio companies and corporates, as well as financial institutions and alternatives.  

 

Flint Directors lead major client engagements and play an important role in developing business both with existing clients and using their networks to bring clients to Flint. 

 

As a member of the Market & Investor Advisory team, you will work closely with colleagues from across Flint. You will provide a mix of strategic advice and expert analysis to multiple clients and play a substantial role in developing new business. The MIA team advises on a broad range of complex issues across a wide variety of sectors.  For example, we: 

 

  • support clients in managing the policy, political and regulatory aspects of transactions; 
  • help companies understand the impact of government policy, regulation and legislation on their business; and 
  • advise on significant strategic and organisational decisions to support our clients’ commercial objectives. 

 

SPECIFICALLY, WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS OF OUR TEAM THAT: 


  • can deliver rigorous insight and analysis, working alone or as part of a team 
  • have a track record of working on national security or foreign investment screening in the public sector 
  • will work actively to transform their own network into commercial opportunities for the business and seek opportunity to develop business within existing major clients 
  • can contribute to the leadership and management of the practice 
  • take day-to-day charge of projects with medium and large clients, frequently acting as the core point of contact 
  • can take the lead on areas of subject matter expertise and be the ‘go to’ person for those area 
  • can mentor colleagues in a supportive and active way and can line manage colleagues 
  • line manage managers and consultants, with a particular focus on developing team members to their full potential 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

 

We are looking for self-starting individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds. Our team has a mix of consulting, corporate, investor and public sector experience. Ideally, you will have worked in at least one of the following although we will consider applications from those with demonstrable policy/regulatory experience: 


  • National government, the European institutions or for a political party 
  • A major regulator 
  • A strategy consultancy or in a boutique advisory firm 
  • Asset management or investment banking 
  • A multilateral institution 
  • A trade body 


Ideal candidates for the role: 


  • have practical public sector experience of transport, particularly rail 
  • have excellent analytical, quantitative, research and problem-solving skills including the ability to draw out the implications of complex evidence and analysis to give clear strategy and policy advice 
  • are effective in communicating orally and in writing, including experience in writing formal reports. 
  • have excellent project management skills and experience in managing individuals/teams 


Desirable & essential sectoral knowledge: 

 

At present, we are particularly looking for individuals with experience working with a focus on social and governance (ESG), private equity and venture capital, and essential policy experience in the transport, energy & infrastructure sectors. 


Transport policy and regulation across the sectors, including aviation, road vehicles and rail, on issues such as decarbonisation and the climate agenda, contracting and licencing, governance reform and investment. Knowledge of the rail sector is specifically desirable.
