Flint’s Markets & Investors Advisory (MIA) practice supports the deployers of capital to mitigate risks and capitalise on commercial opportunities. As a Flint Consultant, you will support the delivery of client work. This will involve working closely with senior team members across Flint to advise clients on public policy, politics, regulation, and commercial strategy. Flint’s clients want to understand, in detail, how they can build a long-term strategy to thrive in an evolving policy environment.  Our clients include the largest asset managers in the world, as well as financial institutions, alternatives, portfolio companies and corporates.  

You will work with them to deliver the best possible outcomes, and across the Flint team to research and analyse complex policy challenges. You will also work closely with Partners, Directors and Managers to develop options and approaches to address these challenges, backing up recommendations with wider strategic and political analysis. There will be opportunities to engage in substantive policy and political challenges, as well as significant scope for career progression through the company.    



Desirable sectoral knowledge: 


At present, we are looking for an individual with direct experience working on infrastructure policy and regulation. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in infrastructure investment, including project financecontract management and / or public procurement. We are not looking for specific sectoral knowledge given Flint works across the full range of infrastructure sectors, including energy, transport, water, waste, telecoms and digital. We are also active across the whole asset lifecycle, from origination, deal execution, asset management and disposal.  


We are looking for self-starting individual who is keen to get stuck into a busy and growing business. Our team has a mix of consulting, corporate, investor and public sector experience. Ideally, you will have worked in at least one of the following although we will consider applications from those with demonstrable policy/regulatory experience: 

  • Infrastructure investor, asset management or investment bank 
  • An infrastructure company or developer  
  • A strategy consultancy or in a boutique advisory firm 
  • UK GovernmentEuropean National Government, the European institutions or for a political party 
  • A major regulator 
  • A central bank or multilateral institution 
  • A trade body or think tank

  • Strong commercial acumen, enjoy achieving tangible outcomes for our clients  
  • Personable, confident and professional with good judgement and ability to communicate effectively 
  • Able to reach informed judgement and opinions, such that our clients will benefit materially from access to your experience and insight 
  • Reliable, discreet and well presented, giving a positive image of Flint company values 
  • Pro-active and responsive to changing needs and demands of our clients, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated 
  • Able to work collaboratively in teams and would be the kind of colleague who will add to the strong community we are building at Flint 



  • Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills - the ability to quickly dive into new topics and draw out the implications of complex evidence and analysis to give clear strategy and policy advice 
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences with varying degrees of expert knowledge 
  • Outstanding oral communication skills, including the ability to distil varied information and communicate complex issues to non-specialists 
  • Good organisational skills including the capacity to prioritise, plan and schedule complex tasks proactively, and to comfortably work under pressure and to tight deadlines 
  • Effective support to colleagues in building relationships, e.g. through insightful research and briefings, delivering proposals/pitches, providing initial drafts and research as required  
  • Ability to take the lead on defined streams of work within client teams and projects 
  • Effective time management to meet client and/or internal project deadlines
