Minimum Experience Manager/Supervisor

In Brussels, we are looking for a manager who has hands-on EU policy and regulatory experience, intellectual rigor, entrepreneurial spirit, and a drive to succeed.


Flint managers play a pivotal role in managing client engagements. They lead and assure projects and also support partners and directors in business development. The role requires experience of leading teams, including managing, coaching and mentoring junior staff members.


You may currently be working in an EU institution, for a regulatory authority, for a public affairs or management consultancy, a multinational or a think-tank. You understand the EU’s legislative process and the value of personal networks. Preferably, you have experience in a highly regulated sector, such as financial services, digital economy and telecommunications, energy, or pharmaceuticals. You have approximately 5-7 years of relevant job experience, foreign languages, a university degree and are eligible to work in Belgium.


Primary responsibilities


Working alongside a high-performing team, you would be expected to:


  • Lead client teams in delivering outstanding work for our clients: advise clients at a senior level on the impacts of political, policy, competition and regulatory change, and how they can manage these to secure the best economic outcomes for their business.
  • Take responsibility and ownership: Prepare and lead client meetings and internal account management meetings, reviewing progress, monitoring capacity and allocating tasks.
  • Build client relationships: Establish yourself as go-to advisor for clients for the conceptualisation and execution of policy analysis, advocacy and communication campaigns.
  • Contribute to the leadership of Flint: work with senior colleagues to help shape the direction of the firm and development of the business.

Skills and experience


In terms of skills, we look for people who have:

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, research and problem-solving skills – ability to draw out the implications of complex evidence and analysis to give clear strategy and policy advice.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences with varying degrees of expert knowledge.
  • Outstanding oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues to non-specialists.
  • Good organisational skills including the ability to prioritise, plan and schedule complex tasks proactively – comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with internal colleagues and external clients.
  • Political judgment: ability to understand the context behind policy initiatives and deliver credible advice both on the political and technical issues at stake. A strong understanding of both public and private sectors.
  • Experience in managing and coaching junior colleagues.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required, knowledge of other European languages is an advantage.
